Swimsuits, like jeans are included in my list of wardrobe staples (perks of living on an island), so I’m always on the hunt for new additions for my collection. What’s great about them, is that their patterns, colours, cuts and styles are continually evolving. In this post, I’m rounding up for you, some popular trends in swimsuits right now.

The High Cut- When it comes to trends in swimsuit silhouettes, it’s definitely all about the high cut. From high cut bikini bottoms to one-piece swimsuits that are cut high up past the navel for an extreme leg-lengthening effect, the high cut silhouette is one of the trends dominating the swimsuit world right now. This trend, which fashion experts at whowhatwear.com have labeled an ode to the 1980s, has been running for some time now, and in 2020 shows no sign of slowing down.

What’s trending in swimsuit prints.

Tie-Dye- When you think of tie-dye, for some of us, flashes of a school art class may be the first thing that comes to mind. However, this print has been a popular one in the fashion world for quite sometime, and for 2020 it is making its mark in swimsuit fashion. So if you’re looking for a fun addition to your swimsuit wardrobe, take a trip back to your childhood and add one of these into your rotation.

Tropical Prints- Like tie-dye, tropical prints are everything in swimsuit fashion right now. You can find a tropical print to suit any of your fashion moods, whether you’re feeling for a fun and flirty floral pattern or more in the mood for a deep sultry jungle print.

Covered up pieces- Perfect for those of us who want to hit the beach without showing too much skin, fun and cute covered up swimsuit pieces are quite the trend in 2020 swimsuit fashion. Swimsuit lines are now carrying a wide range of covered up pieces including long-sleeve tops, short-sleeve one-pieces and high rise swimsuit bottoms.

A little more detail- The addition of decorative details is another very popular feature right now in swimsuit fashion. Possibly one of the cutest current swimsuit trends, these decorative additions include floss straps, removable rope belts and ornate embellishments.
